New York, New York, USA
Custom Non-corrosive Bronze Alloy Windows were provided to the $30 million restorations of the Statue of Liberty. The 25 miniature windows that sparkled from Liberty’s crown high above New York Harbor were to be replaced. Handcrafted in France more than 100 years ago, Lady Liberty’s new windows were reproduced by hand to match the original design and were improved with advanced technology. A template of every window was taken, all varying in size, angle and curvature. The metal sections were cut by hand from flat bronze sheets and then curved, bent, formed and brazed with silver solder. Fitted with tempered safety glass, the windows were assembled with stainless steel operation hardware and hand-polished to achieve a beautiful, satiny finish.
